Sam Faiers opens up on ’emotional’ therapy to stop her pulling out her eyelashes — EXCLUSIVE

Sam Faiers has opened up on her "emotional" therapy sessions as she attempts to overcome her battle with Trichotillomania — which sees her pulling her eyelashes out.

The 28 year old bravely revealed she was to undergo therapy in an interview with OK! magazine in August, and will now discuss her sessions on her hit reality series, The Mummy Diaries, which she fronts with sister, Billie Faiers, 29.

In an OK! online exclusive clip from Wednesday night's episode of the ITVBe show, Sam speaks about her therapy sessions with boyfriend Paul Knightley, who adorably tells the former The Only Way Is Essex star that he would swap eyelashes with her if he could.

Discussing her session, she tells Paul: "It was very emotional. He goes deeper, peeling the onion away to get to the root of it."

Sam continues to tell viewers: "The trigger why I picked out my eyelashes when I was younger was because of the whole situation with my dad going to prison."

However, she continues to reveal: "Am I still doing that now because of that? I don't think I am."

Cutting back to her conversation with Paul, Sam says: "[The therapist] was obviously talking about my childhood and what my mum went through.

"Imagine, as a parent, how that must have been for my mum. So I got upset and I cried, but I feel like I'm done with that now."

Speaking about her plan of action going forward, Sam tells cameras: "In our next sessions now we're going to look at building up when you do get stressed or when you do get anxious, we're not going to relate it to that anymore.

"Teaching your mind and your brand not to pull out your eyelashes when you feel a bit anxious or you're a bit stressed out."

Paul also addresses viewers when discussing the therapy, telling cameras: "I want her to overcome this so much.

"I'll support her throughout her journey and whatever she needs to do to stop it."

Sam tells him: "I think the life coach route is really beneficial for other stuff as well, do you know what I mean? The breathing techniques are brilliant."

But she doesn't get much time to showcase the techniques to her partner, as they are interrupted by their son Paul, three, who is playing with a loud toy.

"I mean, we can't even have a chat," she jokes, before adding: "So yeah, I'm feeling really positive about this one, I've just got to see him every week and just take it from there."

She asks Paul: "If you could give me your eyelashes, would you?" to which he replies: "100 per cent."

He explains: "Because then I could grow mine back," with Sam telling him: "That is so sweet."

Turning to her one year old daughter, Rosie, she says: "I could have lovely eyelashes like you in a few weeks," with the tot adorably fluttering her own in the direction of her doting mum.

Speaking about her hypnotherapy to OK! magazine in August, the mum of two said: "I’ve had two in the last couple of months. But it’s meant to take a minimum of six to eight sessions, so it’s a process. It’s hypnotherapy.

"They speak to your subconscious, so you’re not in a deep sleep but you’re very relaxed. She tells you how lovely your eyelashes are, that your hands don’t need to be near your eyes, but should stay by your sides."
