Roman Kemp has reflected on his five years on Celebrity Gogglebox with his dad Martin Kemp, revealing that the public love when the Spandau Ballet star talks about "having sex" with his mum. The Capital Breakfast host is the son of Martin and Shirlie Kemp, best known as half of Pepsi & Shirlie.
Roman, who won the TRIC Award for Radio Personality on Tuesday, joined the cast of Celebrity Gogglebox in 2019. He spoke to OK! in an exclusive interview about being one of the longest-serving cast members.
"I think us and [Nick Grimshaw], we're the longest now. People love my dad talking about having sex with my mum to me.
"So I don't know. We're always on it and you know what, that crew and everyone there have been a part of our lives for the past five years. Every summer that's what we do."
He added: "I love it. It's the best. And what you see genuinely, that is our relationship. So that's the nicest thing."
As for whether there's anything he can't stand to watch with his dad, Roman said that nothing is off the table.
"I'll be honest, we're very strange. We don't ever cringe at each other or anything like that, so it's really nice," he said.
The father-son duo have taken on a number of TV projects together, including DNA Journey. They have also hosted two ITV shows: Martin & Roman's Weekend Best and Martin & Roman's Sunday Best.
Earlier this year, Roman took to Twitter when Cat and Mouse on The Masked Singer were revealed to be his mum and dad. "ARE YOU F**KING JOKING #MaskedSingerUK," he wrote. "I JUST SHOUTED THE PHRASE 'TAKE IT OFF' TO MY PARENTS I CANT UNDO THAT #MaskedSingerUK," he added in a follow-up tweet.
While last year, Roman revealed that his dad Martin had a nudist habit, admitting that various exes have seen him in the nude. "As a kid, I was constantly apologising for my dad walking round in a towel – or barely a towel," he said.
However, when it comes to manscaping, Roman claimed that he taught his dad "everything he knows". "The most ridiculous thing is, I taught him that!" he said. "The facing back to front on the toilet – sorry to be so graphic!"
The broadcaster, who has hosted Capital Breakfast since 2017, will be taking on a brand new BBC show later in the year. Hosting with Sarah Greene, Roman is presenting new daytime quiz The Finish Line – where contestants compete on a unique racetrack set.
