The Love Island star and his family recently marked the one-year anniversary of his brother Llyr’s death, who tragically died last year after suffering from his mental health. During Tuesday’s Lorraine on ITV, Ranvir spoke with the A&E doctor about his brother, as he opened up about his grief and how he is coping one year on. He went on to discuss how people can seek help if they are struggling with losing a loved one. However, when the interview came to an end, Ranvir was overcome with emotion, and she broke down in tears.

“You’re happy in your private life, aren’t you?” Ranvir said. “I know you don’t want to talk about it too much.

“Everyone is pleased for you. You’ve got a girlfriend. She must be a big support to you in this last year as well.”

“I met her a little while ago,” the GP replied. “Her, alongside my friends and my family, have been an amazing source of support for me.

“And there’s moments in this last year where I’ve really struggled, and I am happy to say that.”

“We need the people around us to support us,” he added. “And there are times where I’ve had to say to my family ‘Gosh, I’m finding it tough right now’.

“I hope anyone listening to this will understand that there is such a great amount of strength of being able to bring people in when you need them.

“Ask for that support, it gives you so much resilience to deal with almost anything.”

Stepping in to praise the reality star, Ranvir said:  “I think you’re amazing for what you do, with all the pain you’re carrying.”

We get through,” Alex simply replied.

The emotional nature of the chat soon caught up to Ranvir as she began to cry, saying: “I feel quite emotional speaking to you because we all think of our own families.

“So, thank you for everything you’re doing.”

Viewers took to social media following the emotional segment, with many praising Alex for being so “brave” and Ranvir for her compassionate interviewing technique.

“Bless Ranvir,” a third simply wrote.

Last week, Alex shared a heartbreaking tribute to his brother in a post on Instagram.

Alongside a photo of Llŷr and his family, Dr Alex penned: “I can’t believe it’s been a year. Some days I really can’t accept or understand that you are not here. We miss you so much Llŷr.

“You give me so much strength, even when times are tough, and it would be easy to give up.

“Mum, Dad and Elliott are doing ok, they miss you so much too. I would do anything to go out for a spin in the car with you again. Love you x.”

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
