Prince Harry and his father, Prince Charles haven’t always had the easiest relationship. Though they were close when Prince Harry was growing up, the tragic death of Prince Diana and the red-head prince’s unruly behavior in his teens and early 20s certainly caused a bit of strain on their father/son relationship.
Luckily, in recent years the future King of England and his second-born son have worked to repair their relationship and Prince Harry’s wife, Duchess Meghan Markle has only aided in that help. Still, despite everything, there is one strange habit that Prince Harry inherited from his father.

The strange habit Prince Harry inherited from Prince Charles
Prince Charles has always been an avid environmentalist, and his passion for the earth has rubbed off on both Prince Harry and Prince William. In the documentary, Prince Charles at 70, Prince William revealed, “He took us litter picking when we were younger, on holiday. We were in Norfolk on school holidays, and we went out litter picking with him. We thought this is perfectly normal, everyone must do it. We were there with our spikes stabbing the rubbish into black plastic bags.”
As a result, Prince Harry would go out for long walks when he was in school looking for trash and picking it up. But that isn’t the strangest habit he inherited from his father. In the film, Baby Sussex’s dad explained, “He’s a stickler for turning lights off. And that’s now something that I’m obsessed with as well. My wife certainly goes, ‘Well, why turn the lights off? You know, it’s dark.’ I go, ‘We only need one light, we don’t need like six.’ I’ve literally done this because I’m programmed to do it because my father did it. We should all be doing it.” Let’s just hope that Baby Sussex isn’t afraid of the dark.

Did Meghan Markle help to repair Prince Charles and Prince Harry’s relationship?
Prince Charles adores Duchess Meghan Markle, so much so that he reportedly calls her “Teflon” which refers to someone who can withstand criticism or attack with no apparent effect. According to E! Online, “Prince Charles thinks she is charming and very bright, and Duchess Camilla believes Markle has made a great start in becoming a member of the family.”
Markle’s presence has also helped Prince Charles and Prince Harry bond. A royal source explained to The Daily Mail, “Princes Harry and William were said to have blamed their father for being absent for much of their childhood, Markle helped heal that wound with her instant rapport with Prince Charles. Meghan met Charles and was bowled over by his charm. She told Harry he was wonderful, welcoming, warm, hard-working, kind and stable.”
