Dad’s here with the announcement you’ve been waiting for: Former President Barack Obama has officially come forward to endorse Joe Biden for President of the United States, just days after Bernie Sanders dropped out of the race, making Biden the presumptive Democratic nominee.
In the above video, you can watch Obama’s full endorsement, where he praises Biden, as well as Sanders. He begins by speaking to those who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, before explaining why we need a leader like Biden at this particular moment in history:
Obama goes on to say that choosing Biden as his vice president was one of the best decisions of his life and that the two became close friends. Of course, their famous “bromance” has been diligently and lovingly highlighted in photo galleries, memes, and videos from the Obama White House. Before leaving office, Obama even surprised Biden with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor for Americans. Throughout his campaign, Biden has often invoked Obama’s name, both on the trail and in debates.
In his pitch to the country, Obama made the case that Biden should be the leader to carry us through the crisis and beyond, saying, “Joe has the character and the experience to guide us through one of our darkest times and heal us through a long recovery.”
