Power fans slam 'laughable' plot hole as Tommy Egan carelessly reveals Ghost's code name

POWER fans have branded a plot hole in which Tommy Egan carelessly revealed Ghost's code name as 'laughable'.

The beloved series concluded earlier this month following months of speculation about who shot aspiring politician James 'Ghost' St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick).

Viewers were left reeling when they learned Ghost's (Omari Hardwick) son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) was the one who gunned him down in his nightclub Truth.

However, it was Tasha (Naturi Naughton) who was wrongly detained for the crime, meaning Tariq literally got away with murder.

For a long time, Ghost’s former business partner Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) was deemed a suspect in his ex friend's death before the divisive finale.

And since the series came to an end, fans have been trawling through earlier episodes and realised Ghost's fate could have been different had his code name not been revealed by Tommy.

Ghost was the name given to to James St Patrick to keep his real identity as a legitimate businessman safe and not everyone knew that the two were the same person.

For several seasons, viewers watched as the New York Police and Angela Valdes (Lela Loren) tried desperately to work out his real identity.

However, it seems keeping Ghost’s identity a secret wasn't so important in season six as Tommy continually referred to James as Ghost to those who shouldn't know who he really was.

Taking to Reddit, one viewer shared a clip of Tommy's slip-up and branded the plot hole as "laughable".

User whatisagoat reposted: "o… For x amount of seasons, everyone close to ghost calls him by his real name around other people that they're not close to.

"And suddenly… Tommy forgets this and calls him ghost to Paz, in front of Elisa Marie… Big lol. The writing has been terrible for a while but this is just laughable."

Following the viewer's lead, another commented on the error and claimed that the final season was "rushed" before blaming "lazy writing".

"It was simply rushed & lazy writing. The writers also had Tariq & Tasha calling James "Ghost", to the cops, after he was killed," Married2anAngel replied.

"It seems it was rushed so they can work harder & faster on the spin-offs so they can have the sneak peeks ready for preview after the finale."

Despite the backlash, one viewer defended Tommy calling James "Ghost" and explained that the slip-up was on purposed to illustrate how stressed out he was.

They wrote: "You can see in Tommy’s episode Elisa Marie notices that. It isn't a writing mistake, it's supposed to show how stressed out Tommy was at the moment."
