Starz franchise Power has a series of spin-offs in the work. Among the spin-offs is Power Book II: Ghost, which picks up 72 hours after the events of the original series. The new drama was in the process of filming in New York City however, the shoot was shut down amid the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe.
Executive producer and Kanan Stark actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson confirmed production had halted.
In a message on Instagram to his 24.5 million followers, the rapper and actor said: “[H]ad to do it we were the last production still working.f*** #TheKing #bransoncognac.”
Book II was slated to be coming out in the summer in the slot previously occupied by Power.
Unfortunately, like many film and TV productions, there’s now much uncertainty about when filming will resume and when the show will be coming out.

Nevertheless, there’s been many theories about what will happen next in the story.
Book II will be set in the aftermath of James “Ghost” St Patrick’s (played by Omari Hardwick) death after he was shot dead by his son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr).
The upcoming series will see Tariq attending college and going to classes in order to get the grade needed to unlock his vast inheritance.
His mother Tasha St Patrick (Naturi Naughton) will be languishing in prison as she serves time for Tariq’s crime.
Will Monet’s daughter Diana helped get Tasha out of prison?
Book II is going to be introducing some new characters including new drug dealer Monet (Mary J. Blige) and shady lawyer Davis Maclean (Clifford “Method Man” Smith).
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly earlier this year about Monet, Power head honcho Courtney A. Kemp teased: “Power obviously is a masculine show but has very strong female characters.
“For Mary’s character, we use all the power and presence of the actress to communicate how this is a woman who is remarkable and unique in her abilities.
“She’s as smart, savvy, and strategic as Ghost ever was, but her learning doesn’t come from books.

“We always said Ghost was a bookish kid who read all the time. This woman’s acumen comes from the street.”
She added to the publication: “It will definitely have a lot of the same elements that you’re used to from Power in terms of criminality, sex, romance, and the legal system. Every scene is still about power.”
Kemp’s words suggest Monet will be a savvy woman and her daughter Diana (LaToya Tonodeo) will take after her.
While Diana’s age is unknown, she could be attending the same college as Tariq which would bring the youngster into Monet’s sphere.

Diana and Tariq could form a friendship and even a blossoming romance, which could lead her to help her get Tasha out of prison.
Monet has strong business acumen and it’s highly likely she will know all about Ghost and the St Patricks, so Diana could also be privy to this information.
Although it wouldn’t be easy to get Tasha out of jail, with the help of Diana, Monet and Davis, it could be very likely.
Davis is a crooked lawyer, so he would be willing to bend any rules needed to get Tasha off and even frame someone else to help his client, so long as the price is right.
Tariq’s guilt could be a big factor in trying to save his mother as she struggles doing time on his behalf.
