Piers Morgan offered Liz Hurley a public apology on Wednesday's edition of Good Morning Britain – only to go on to brand her an "attention-seeking narcissist".
Susanna Reid's ITV co-host initially appeared sincere after he admitted he wrongly told viewers on Tuesday's show that her 18-year-old son Damian took the viral snaps of her posing topless in the snow.
Piers, 55, said: "I want to apologise to Elizabeth Hurley.
"I'm very sorry I called her 'thirsty' for posting topless pictures.
"I followed the newspaper lead that her son took them who is 18 as he regularly takes all her pictures and is a model and photographer.
"But she says it wasn't her son. Apparently it was her 80-year-old mother."
After Susanna tired to defend Liz, Piers accused her of 'not believing a word she said' before adding: "How could an attention seeking narcissist cope.
"Her job is stripping off let's be honest and they are lovely pictures, but it's bit creepy getting your teenage son to get them.
"But her mother apparently takes amazing photographs.
"I would love to see her portfolio."

Hitting out once more, the former newspaper editor continued: "How long did you keep your mother in the snow?
"I am not so sure…
"If the moment the snow fell next time, would your fist thought be I better grab my mum and get her to take endless topless pictures of me?
"You would not do that as it would be creepy as hell. Liz I think you have dug yourself and even bigger grave with that."

Clearly revelling in the topic, Piers went on to accuse the actress of faking her claim for PR spin.
"It was your mother… weird," he chuckled.
"I am not buying a word of it. I think it was Damian and I think she freaked at the coverage as it is creepy and she has now chucked her mum under the bus."
Mocking the claim, Piers laughed: "Liz's mum, you are one of the greatest photograph who I have seen emerge on the scene in a long time."
Taking to Twitter as her images were debated up and down the UK, Liz tweeted: "Far be it for me to suggest the tabloids get their facts muddled, but these pics were in fact taken by my 80 year old mother.
"Not entirely sure if that puts minds at rest or not."
