Nutty Professor and Doctor Dolittle star Eddie Murphy is remaking Grumpy Old Men next

Over the last few years, Eddie Murphy has seen a lot of his old projects come in for the reboot treatment.

He may not be starring in all of them, but there’s already a Boomerang TV series adaptation, a planned Coming to America sequel, an updated 48 Hours and that very A-list Doctor Dolittle remake in the works.

And now, Murphy’s starring in a remake of his own, as it’s been announced that the comedian and actor is attached to star in an upcoming remake of the 1993 comedy Grumpy Old Men

Grumpy Old Men starred Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon as rival neighbours whose feud only got worse when a new female neighbour moves in across the street.

Warner Bros will release the film with New Line producing and with Ride Along director Tim Story, who’s just finished work on the Shaft reboot, at the helm.

As well as starring in the Coming to America sequel and now Grumpy Old Men, Murphy has also been working on the biopic Dolemite Is My Name, in which Murphy stars as comedian Rudy Ray Moore, who was known for his X-rated comedy routines.

And while Murphy’s professional life is looking pretty jam-packed right now, his personal life is also about to undergo a few changes as he prepares to welcome his tenth child.

Last month, a spokesperson confirmed that Eddie was expecting his second child with long-term partner Paige Butcher, with the baby due in December.

“Eddie Murphy and longtime girlfriend Paige Butcher are pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child in December,” a spokesperson said.

The couple have been together since 2012 and welcomed daughter Izzy in May 2016.
