Nigel Havers lands host gig on This Morning after chatting up Holly Willoughby

Actor Nigel Havers has been signed up as a co-presenter on This Morning.

He landed the brief role after bosses loved his recent appearance as a guest on the ITV show.

Nigel, 66, flirted with host Holly Willoughby, 37, touched her knee and invited her out to lunch – much to her delight.

An insider said: “He is the perfect choice to cover our regular hosts – he is suave, dapper and a favourite of our viewers thanks to his previous, cheeky sofa appearances.

“It is going to be a blast.”

Corrie star Nigel, who also appeared in Downton Abbey and 1981 movie Chariots of Fire, will co-present the show on Monday alongside Lisa Snowdon.

Sofa favourite Rylan Clark-Neal will front the programme with Lisa on Tuesday, and with Gok Wan on Wednesday and Thursday.

A source said: “Viewers appear to be enjoying these surprise guest hosts across the summer.”

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, who are standing in for regular presenters Holly and Phillip Schofield during the summer, are away for a wedding.
