The eldest son of Nick Knowles has said the TV star’s music is “shocking” and should not be in the charts.
His cover version of classic Make You Feel My Love topped the iTunes chart last week after Chris Moyles launched a campaign, before it broke into the Vodafone Big Top 40 on Sunday.
Asked about the fact Nick’s music was now in the charts, his eldest son Charles Knowles said: “This is madness. Dad is number one in the charts. 2018 what a time to be alive eh?
“I think I was more surprised about the music stuff than I was about how he settled in the jungle. The jungle life he is used to it, but the music is just shocking."
Charlie went on to say: “My uncle is actually an unbelievable musician and that is where the talent is in the family, so I hope something good comes of it and people listen to my uncle’s music.”
Charles also said Nick had mellowed as he got older, adding: “I was his first-born and he was definitely bossy when I was younger but now seeing as he is getting on, where we see each other, if we disagree on something we just leave it.
“I think if someone lacked basic manners or was not being a gentleman in there that could really pee him off.”
Some viewers have accused Nick of ‘playing a game’ and being nice to win votes in front of the cameras, like when he gave his pillow to Anne Hegerty.
But Charles said: “I understand where the (bad) opinions come from like With the pillow thing dad has got a really bad back problems so him giving up that pillow I am quite worried about him.”
Asked if he will be a good camp leader, Charles told ITV2’s Extra Camp: “He will be a good leader but I don’t think dad will like it much to be honest. He likes keeping himself busy and helping people. He will get bored in there sitting on a chair.”
