Richard Madden found himself in a bit of an odd situation last week, when he was asked to leave the Netflix headquarters – even though the company has just picked up his record-breaking show The Bodyguard.
The actor also claimed he was refused a bottle of branded Netflix water – because it was only for staff.
And now the streaming service has apologised to him by sending him a cheeky gift and a handwritten note.
Richard shared the bizarre story during an interview on Amercia’s KTLA Morning New.
He explained: "I walked in and was told I was in the wrong building.
"But there was a fridge of water, Netflix-branded water, which I went to grab a bottle of and he said you have to go around the corner for your guys’ show.
"I said ‘cool, I’ll just grab a bottle of water, which I was told no I’m not allowed to, it’s for Netflix employees only.
"I said, well I am a Netflix employee, I’m on a show.
"He said ‘sir, you have to put that water back now’. I was like, seriously? Surely I can have a bottle of water.
"But again he just said ‘no, you have to put that water back now. You have to leave now sir’.
"They held the door open for me and I left the building."
After the show aired Richard shared a series of photos on his Instagram page showing a gift Netflix had sent him – two massive boxes filled with branded water.
The handwritten note reads: "Dear Mr Madden – Our deepest apologies for the water bottle situation. Normally we give them out gladly, but your fans are always so thirsty."
Last week Richard confirmed he’s to begin talks about a second series of The Bodyguard.
He’s planning to meet up with the BBC One drama show’s creator Jed Mercurio in a few weeks to discuss if there’s a future for personal protection officer David Budd.
More than 17 million people saw the show over a month, the largest number for a non-sporting or national event since 2010.
