Money Heist fans will be pleased to see Rio (played by Miguel Herran) back and reunited with the gang in season four after his traumatic capture in the third outing. Here’s everything you need to know about the character and the actor who plays him, including his age in the series.
How old is Rio in Money Heist?
Rio was first introduced in the first season of La Casa de Papel as a young hacker recruited into the heist gang.
According to the official Money Heist wiki, he was born in 1997 in the show, which makes him either 22 or 23-years-old.
However, it is not quite clear when the series is set because in part three, Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) alludes to him being even younger than this.
During season three, when negotiating with the heist gang, she says Rio if he serves just a five-year sentence then he could be released and still be in his early twenties.

This has led some fans to believe he is around 19-years-old in the series.
Throughout the series so far, there have been plenty of references to him being the youngest of the bunch.
When Tokyo (Ursula Corbero) first describes him, she says: “He’s the Mozart of computers.
“He’s been coding since he was six and knows everything about alarms and electronics.
“For everything else in life, it’s like he was born yesterday.”
There’s also a number of allusions to an age gap between Rio and Tokyo in the show.
This includes a reference to a 12-year age gap between the pair, which would make her in her early 30s.
