Before her tragic death, Mya-Lecia had been planning to get back into YouTubing when she finished her GSCE’s.
She told Tresa Magazine: ‘It’s hard at the moment since I’ve got my GCSEs in about two months, but as soon as that’s over I really want to get back into the habit of posting on YouTube weekly and really engaging in that.’
The talented teenager also teased new acting projects, saying: ‘I have been filming a few things here and there but everything’s a bit hush hush at the moment so I can’t really speak about it yet but be on the lookout because there’s going to be some amazing projects out real soon!’
CBBC announced her death in a statement: ‘We are so sorry to have to tell you that Mya-Lecia, who you will know from Millie Inbetween and Almost Never has, very sadly, died.
‘Mya-Lecia was a much loved part of the BBC Children’s family, and a hugely talented actress, singer and dancer.
‘We will miss her enormously and we are sure that you will want to join us in sending all our love to her family and friends.
‘We know this news is very upsetting, and it may help to share how you are feeling with friends or a trusted adult.’
She was also known for her role in Almost Never, which launched in January this year. It followed boyband The Wonderland and rival girl group Girls Here First on fictional talent show The Spotlight.
Some of her co-stars from Almost Never have been paying tribute to their ‘inspirational sister’ on social media.
Lilly Stanion wrote on Instagram: ‘My heart is broken and words can not describe how I’m feeling right now. I miss you and I love you so so much. Sending love to her family, friends and fans. Rest in Peace mya’.
Miriam Nyarko said: ‘Rest in Perfect Peace Mya-Lecia Naylor. No one ever knew how close we really were.
‘I’ve been heartbroken and can’t describe how much I’ll miss my travelling partner and inspirational sister.
‘You’ve brought me nothing but joy and I’ll forever strive to let your legacy live on and be as happy as you made me. Thank you for blessing us with your presence and I’ll make sure to make you proud.’
Lola Moxom shared: ‘Rest in peace mya??I love and miss you so much gorgeous girl. I was so lucky to have had you in my life. I’m heartbroken but You’ll always be in my heart.’
Naylor also played Jane in Absolutely Fabulous in 2004 and appeared in 2012’s Cloud Atlas as Miro. She is set to appear in TV series The Witcher, which is currently in pre-production.
