Because of the escapist and fantastical nature of our favourite films, we are often willing to suspend our disbelief when it comes to things like physics and why our heroes never seem to need to go for a poo.
But when these films feature really small and mundane things, we really appreciate it. And in Spider-Man: Homecoming, there’s a detail that’s so small, it’s taken over a year for someone to notice it.
Reddit user EAZYG247 pointed out that throughout the film, Peter Parker’s phone gets more and more cracked. It starts with a small one in the top left corner, before getting one large crack across the whole screen and ending up with the dreaded screen full of cracks (looking almost like… a spider’s web!).
We also couldn’t help but notice that Peter Parker has quite the outdated phone model, but we digress.
Homecoming also featured a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Easter Egg shoutout to Tim Burton’s Batman in a scene featuring Michael Keaton, who played the Dark Knight back in the day. We wonder if Keaton is actually aware of the reference.
Despite all the little details, Homecoming features one of the biggest plot holes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there are many.
Meanwhile, the Homecoming sequel will be titled Spider-Man: Far from Home and earlier this month we got a first look at the film’s logo on a very special day.
Spider-Man: Far from Home will be released in cinemas on July 5, 2019.
