MAFS Australia season eight finished airing in the UK earlier this month, rounding up an intense series filled with affairs, rows and gaslighting claims. The dramatic romance reality series was quickly renewed for a ninth season by Australian network Channel 9 and is expected to start Down Under in early 2022. However, a contestant has been kicked out of the show before he even got to appear onscreen.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from MAFS Australia.
Why was Simon Blackburn kicked out ahead of series airing?
Back in September, Channel 9 released its first trailer, introducing some of the next batch of singletons ready to find their one true love.
One of those who featured in the teaser was miner Simon Blackburn from Melbourne.
Filming had started and Simon, a divorced father-of-two, had tied the knot with florist Jessica Seracino.
She reportedly was the person who made Channel 9 aware of videos including “misogynistic and homophobic comments” that Simon had made for TikTok.

She reportedly was the person who made Channel 9 aware of videos including “misogynistic and homophobic comments” that Simon had made for TikTok.
According to Daily Mail Australia, Jessica found them shortly after filming their wedding and honeymoon.
Once shown the content in question, the MAFS Australia creators decided to axe Simon from the show.
Simon was asked to leave and Jessica was moved to another hotel before being paired with another groom for the series.
A Channel 9 representative stated: “When unacceptable social media content was discovered in relation to Simon Blackburn, we immediately took steps to remove him from the programme.”
Simon, before deleting his Instagram account, addressed the issues raised.
Pink News reported this week that Simon wrote: “Just to clarify, I haven’t posted on TikTok in six months and all videos of me are reposts or screenshots of lives from last year!
“Not my current thoughts or mindset! No further comment will be given.”
Another reality star has taken to her own social media to express her views on the matter.

Former The Bachelorette star Angie Kent described Simon as “incredibly toxic and dangerous” after viewing the videos.
Simon shared a video discussing Angie afterwards, stating “the only reason she is complaining is because she’s a w***e”.
She asked her followers to report Simon who is believed to have set up social media accounts under another name.
Angie wrote: “Very easy to do and very necessary as he is targeting women in a vile and disgusting way”.
Filming for MAFS Australia season nine is well underway so it will be back very soon.
The ninth series is expected to start in Australia sometime in early 2022.
Unfortunately, UK fans are going to have to wait a little while longer, with the next season not expected to begin on E4 until late next year.
MAFS Australia is available to watch on E4.
