Love Island fans furious after ‘chaotic’ meet and greet event where they claim they queued for hours without a single star selfie

Visitors to Love Island: Live, Meet The Islanders at the ExCel Centre in London on Friday  were allegedly angered after spending £35 on a VIP ticket only to miss out on time with their favourite stars from the show.

The Daily Star reports that families – who had been told on the event's website to, "get your best face ready for the ultimate selfie with your favourite Islanders" – queued for hours for just 20 seconds with the stars, causing fights to break out.

One fan Anna Troth, who took her friend's 13-year-old daughter, told the paper: “I have spent close to £100 to be here today and we haven’t got a single picture.

“We waited for two hours for nothing. The day was supposed to be special. I am going to ask for a refund.

“The event was oversold. It was so crowded. So many people want their money back.

“I bought the extra VIP tickets because it said we would be able to meet all the Islanders.

“We queued and queued for Dani and Jack and were told it was too late.

“They walked past and Jack was going to let us take a picture but we were pushed aside by one of the organisers who looked like security.”

Other visitors also took to Twitter to complain about the day.

One wrote: "#see #loveislandlive extremely disappointed queen up for two hours with my friend and didn’t even get one photo it’s an outrage."

However, many appeared happy with their experience.

One shared: "I had the best day @LoveIsland live!! Thank you to everyone I met!! You were all so lovely."

Another posted: "@DrAlex2018 Thank you so much for making my granddaughter’s day – with photos, autograph, chat and high five – she said it was the best day ever!"

An ITV spokesperson told The Sun Online: " "Love Island Live allowed viewers to see a 60 min show with the Islanders hosted by Caroline Flack, and meet and greet some of their Islander favourites during a further 2 hour period.

"We have had overwhelmingly positive feedback and are sorry to hear some people were disappointed."

It comes after Caroline Flack ditched her engagement ring to launch Friday's event.

The 38-year-old presenter of the ITV2 show was on hand to introduce this year's contestants to the hundreds of fans who had turned out to meet them.

As she stood on stage in a pretty black and white dotty playsuit, Caroline'sengagement ring was clearly missing from her left hand following her split from fiance Andrew Brady.

The couple broke up last month after a whirlwind engagement, and despite meeting in Ibiza last weekend to talk things through, Caroline has ditched her bling.
