Lily Allen apologises to Cheryl and blames decade-long feud on her sexual frustrations

Oh My God singer Lily was just 21 when the pair first clashed in 2006.

In a new book she admits being jealous of Cheryl and her Girls Aloud pals.

She writes: “I was frustrated. I was struggling with my own issues around sexuality. I’d never even had an orgasm.

“And then here were these gorgeous girls — my peers, colleagues so to speak, and co-workers — taking their clothes off with wild abandon and being loved and rewarded for it. I couldn’t take it.

“Sorry Cheryl. I was angry because I hadn’t come yet. It was ridiculous. I bitched at Cheryl because she insulted me after I provoked her.

“You can see how it can go, this playground game.

“The crazy part was as if the hatred was a real thing. We didn’t know each other. I’d never met Cheryl. I did resent Girls Aloud’s success back then, though.”

The spat started after Lily recorded a song with the lyric: “Wish I looked just like Cheryl Tweedy.”

She later wrote: “Cheryl, I don’t really want to look like you. I was being ironic. Nobody really wants to look like you, they just think they do.”

Cheryl hit back, calling Lily “a chick with a d**k”.

In her book My Thoughts Exactly, out on Thursday, Lily also regrets a post in which she said Cheryl’s mother “must be so proud, stupid b***h” for Cheryl “marrying a rich footballer” (Ashley Cole) and taking her clothes off.

Lily said: “Imagine writing that. It was such a horrible thing to say. Of course Cheryl’s mum was proud of her. Why wouldn’t she be?"
