Liam Payne will release new track First Time featuring French Montana next week

Now it seems Liam isn’t hanging around with releasing his new material either as he prepares to impress his former flame with his musical prowess.

The One Direction star will unleash new track First Time, featuring rapper French Montana, this coming Friday – his first new music since the break-up.

A source said: “The split has been hard on Liam as it has Cheryl, but it’s back to business now. He’s been by far the most successful solo star of the 1D lads, with Strip That Down selling more than nine million.

“He is hoping this tune will have similar success. Music is his main priority and focus right now and he wants to be back in the charts doing what he does best.”

Liam’s new single comes after I told how he had been forced to give his upcoming debut album a massive overhaul due to the record featuring tracks about his former relationship with Cheryl, with whom he has toddler son Bear.

It is now expected to have what is being described as a more “introspective, urban sound” instead.

Cheryl isn’t just sitting on her hands, though, and her fifth album is near completion. Just this week she told the audience of new BBC show The Greatest Dancer, on which she’s a judge, how she is poised to drop two new tunes, with the first set for release in October.

According to Chezza, the first will be “upbeat” with the second single having “Call My Name vibes”. Cheryl told me how her record, co-written with Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts, already featured a collection of upbeat bangers rather than Liam-esque heartbreak ballads.

Speaking to me at Simon Cowell’s summer party last month, she said: “Nicola and I wrote every track on the album together. It’s been great working with one of my best friends.

“I’m really proud of the album and excited for people to hear the new music.”

Cheryl’s last album, Only Human, peaked at No7 in the UK charts and featured chart-topping singles I Don’t Care and Crazy, Stupid, Love.

At least by the time hew new music hits the streets, she will have been able to assess the competition from her ex.

Kendall takes plunge

KENDALL Jenner looks like she’s taking cossie cues from Borat in this lime green one-piece similar to the mankini donned by Sacha Baron Cohen’s comic character.

She strapped on flippers before going snorkelling off the coast of Mexico, where she was on holiday with her basketball player boyfriend Ben  Simmons.

George's scenic drive

SHOTGUN singer George Ezra isn’t content with just recording chart-topping music.

In an exclusive interview at Boardmasters Festival, he said: “I love the idea of going into acting. I’ll have to get some acting lessons or something. I wouldn’t do it tomorrow but it’s something I’ll definitely do one day.”

George also teased his own take on James Corden’s Car-pool Karaoke – with Danny Dyer.  Asked who he’d like to ride “shotgun” with, he said: “Let’s go with Danny Dyer. I would be a very safe driver if I drove but maybe Danny would get road rage.”

George, who has announced a UK arena tour for March 2019, added: “I’ve never met Danny but I respect him and we follow each other. I hope we meet one day.” I’m sure Danny would be keen.

Robbie: I'll Cher stage

NOT only has Simon Cowell made Robbie Williams an X Factor judge, he has also given him a huge performance slot. Robbie will take to the stage during the show’s live final.

And a huge collaboration could be on the cards. On Instagram Live he said: “I see myself making an appearance onstage for the final. I’d love to duet with Cher.”

Rob said he was “nervous” about joining the judging panel with wife Ayda Field and Louis Tomlinson but added: “It’s a beautiful thing right now.”

Let’s hope it stays that way.

Rosie's made up to be a mummy

LOOKING great is obviously in the jeans for Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

The model was out and about in New York this week, without fiancé Jason Statham.

Rosie, who had the couple’s first child, Jack, last year, talked about the challenges posed to her beauty regime by being a new mum.

She said: “I get hardly any time to myself. So when I get in the mirror, I say, ‘OK, I’ve got a choice. Hair or make-up.’ I always go for make-up.  But five-minute make-up, that’s what I’m all about. I have it down to five minutes.”

Could have fooled me.
