Liam Payne confirms mini-One Direction reunion for Stand Up to Cancer

Two members of one of the biggest boybands in history are getting back together for an important cause.

This year’s Stand Up To Cancer events on Channel 4 will feature One Direction’s Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson sitting down on the couch together to watch some telly and have a good old catch up, in a special edition of Celebrity Gogglebox.

The two have just reunited on screen for the Judges’ Houses round of The X Factor, where Louis roped in his bandmate to lend some sage advice to the Boys category.

And whilst they might be used to touring the world together doing all things music, this time their joint appearance may be a more emotional one.

In an Instagram post announcing the news, Liam wrote: “It’s a cause that’s close to our hearts, so please give it a watch and donate,” followed by a love heart emoji.

The cause will be important to Louis in particular. In December 2016, his mother Johanna Deakin passed away following a battle with leukaemia.

Days after his mother’s death, Louis honoured her memory in a personal, raw performance of his song ‘Just Hold On’ during the X Factor finals, which received widespread praise from viewers.

“It was tough, but I felt like it was nice for me to almost have a little send off for her,” he later said.

Louis will not only have the support of Liam, but a whole host of celebs on their sofas for the episode, including the first televised appearance of father-daughter duo Dani and Danny Dyer, along with husband-wife team Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch.

Perhaps Louis and Liam will treat fans to a little sing-song to get people digging deep for donations…

Celebrity Gogglebox will air as part of Channel 4 and Cancer Research UK’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign on Friday, October 26 from 7pm. For more info and to donate, visit www.standuptocancer.org.uk.
