'Law & Order: Organized Crime' Finally Gets a Premiere Date

The moment Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) fans have been waiting for is officially here: We now have a premiere date for Law & Order: Organized Crime. When can you expect to watch the new Law & Order spinoff? We have the answer.

Elliot Stabler was Olivia Benson’s partner in ‘Law & Order: SVU’ for over a decade

Stabler became a household name as Detective Olivia Benson’s (Mariska Hargitay) partner for 12 seasons on Law & Order: SVU. They worked well together and had amazing chemistry, and that’s why Meloni’s departure hurt so badly for fans. The two partners who were more like family didn’t even have a chance to say goodbye. With a lot left unsaid, fans have patiently been waiting for these two to bump into each other again. Meloni left the series over contract negotiations, but it still wasn’t an easy pill for fans to swallow.

‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ finally gets a premiere date

However, Stabler is getting his own spinoff called Law & Order: Organized Crime, and there was talk that he was going to appear in the premiere episode of season 22 of SVU ahead of it. But the moment was pushed back as well as the premiere of Organized Crime, which was supposed to drop in the Fall lineup, but it was delayed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it had to do with showrunner Matt Olmstead leaving the project.

But some fans have figured that the reunion between Stabler and Benson was brewing and would premiere soon based on social media teases from both stars. NBC has finally announced the news we’ve all been waiting for: the reunion of epic proportions will happen the same night as the Organized Crime premiere.

On Thursday, April 1, SVU will feature an episode at 9 p.m. EST that holds the crossover we’ve been waiting for between Stabler and Benson. And at 10 p.m. EST, Organized Crime will premiere and feature a double dose of crossover bliss.

Tamara Taylor, known for her role in Bones, will also be in the new series along with Dylan McDermott, known for numerous roles including American Horror Story. They’ll both have lead roles in the new Law & Order spinoff.

The news broke on social media as well

The news was also announced via social media yesterday. On Instagram, the official account for SVU shared a promo of an image of Stabler coming into focus. The image pulls away to the words “Law & Order: Organized Crime Thursday April 1,” which comes on the screen. Fans will be able to watch new episodes via streaming the next day.

“Stabler’s story continues. #OrganizedCrime premieres April 1 on @NBC,” the post is captioned.

What to expect from ‘Organized Crime’

But what can fans expect from this new Law & Order spinoff? Stabler will return after dealing with “a devastating personal loss,” according to NBC. Here’s the rest of the official description: “However, the city and police department have changed dramatically in the decade he’s been away, and he must adapt to a criminal justice system in the midst of its own moment of reckoning. Stabler will aim to find absolution and rebuild his life while leading an elite new task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful crime syndicates one by one.”

We don’t have a whole lot longer to wait until the highly anticipated premiere of Organized Crime and the reunion between Stabler and Benson takes place. Here’s to counting down the days in-between.
