Kevin Hart will be Bryan Cranston’s ‘arms and legs’ in their upcoming comedy The Upside.
Based on a true story, the film follows a recently-paroled ex-convict (Hart) who forms an unlikely friendship with a paralysed billionaire (Cranston). It also stars Nicole Kidman, Julianna Margulies and Aja Naomi King.
The first trailer offers a glimpse of the heartfelt comedy, with one scene showing Hart trash everything in sight, much to the satisfaction of Cranston. Check it out below.
The trailer certainly has us intrigued, if for no other reason than this being Hart’s most dramatic role to date. We all know what Cranston is capable of, from his iconic performance as Walter White in Breaking Bad and his Oscar-nominated turn in Trumbo, but it’ll be interesting to see what Hart can do whilst wearing his semi-serious hat.
Having said that, it looks like Hart will still get to exude some of the manic style of comedy we’ve all become accustomed to in films like Ride Along, Central Intelligence and Jumanji.
The Upside is getting a considerably delayed release, having premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival and intended for cinemas in March 2018.
Directed by Neil Burger, The Upside is a remake of the hit French film The Intouchables, and It was originally meant to be helmed by A Simple Favour‘s Paul Feig.
The Upside will hit cinemas on January 11, 2019.
