Jake Quickenden shares touching throwback on the anniversary of brother's death

The Dancing on Ice champion's sibling passed away after a battle with bone cancer in 2012 when he was just 18.

Earlier today, Jake marked the sixth anniversary of his death by sharing a throwback snap of them together as youngsters.

He wrote alongside it: "Six years today little brother, I can’t believe you have been gone that long, I miss you with each passing breath, I love you so so much!!!

"After a loved one passes, be encouraged by their passing and legacy.

"Instead of crying, live an inspired, spiritual and happy life like they did when they were here.

"Live each day with encouragement knowing that they are proud and smiling down on you from Heaven."

Oliver's death came just four years after the family were left devastated when their father Paul died in 2008 after battling a freak case of non-familial bone cancer.

Oliver was diagnosed with osteosarcoma – the most common form – in 2010 when he was only 16 and died two years later surrounded by his family.

Jake has previously said that the loss of his father and little brother in quick succession dragged him into a pit of depression.

He said: "They were just very, very unlucky. I struggled a lot, especially as [Oliver] was my little brother – he was 19 – and because I should be looking after him.

"I went into a downward spiral. I’m not talking about it because I want pity but I decided to talk about it to let people know you can come out of it and be alright.

"I did nothing, I laid on my mum’s sofa, not working or making money, and I was just going out and getting so drunk I couldn’t remember the night before.

"I’d lay in bed all day and be depressed. I didn’t want to burden my mum as she had just lost a son. I couldn’t talk to my mates, because everybody loses someone.

"I didn’t want to burden people with it. I didn’t want people to be like, "here he goes again". I dealt with it badly, with drinking a lot, I literally went out most nights and I drank myself stupid."
