Iron Fist season 3: Cast, release date, showrunner, plot and everything you need to know

The second season of Iron Fist has just dropped on Netflix and, whilst we weren’t too keen, it has gone down much better than the first batch of adventures of Danny Rand.

Fitting in the universe with other small screen Marvel shows Luke Cage, Daredevil and Jessica Jones, the martial-arts superhero series recently welcomed new ‘villain’ Typhoid Mary to the cast. – a move that went down well with everyone.

Currently, Netflix have not officially announced a third season but we’ll let you know when they do.

Here’s what we know about Iron Fist season three so far.

Iron Fist season 3 release date: when will it arrive on Netflix?

So far, there’s been an 18-month gap between seasons one and two (March 2017 and Sept 2018).

Using this template, then season three would likely to be found from March 2020. To fill the gap, there’s The Punisher season two, Luke Cage season three, Daredevil season three, and Jessica Jones season three.

Don’t expected any more Defenders any time soon though.

Iron Fist season 3 trailer: when’s it coming?

Season 2’s announcement came in July 2017 but fans weren’t treated to a teaser or trailer until just months before the show aired in 2018.

So expect the first footage from the third outing around December 2019, if the new season follows the same path as the previous.

Iron Fist season 3 cast: who’s in it?

Despite the ending of season two suggesting otherwise, you can fully expect to see Finn Jones back as Danny Rand.

Likewise we can’t imagine the the third season without: Jessica Henwick as the not-to-be-messed-with Colleen Wing; Sacha Dhawan as Davos; Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum; Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum; and Simone Missick as the multiple-Marvel series straddling Misty Knight.

Are we missing anyone? Oh yeah…

Iron Fist season 3: is Typhoid Mary back?

Typhoid Mary caused quite a stir when she appeared during the second season. The character actually first appeared in a Daredevil comic – here’s everything you need to know about her here.

Played by Alice Eve, Typhoid’s alter ego is former special ops soldier Mary Walker who has a dissociative identity disorder; resulting in the naïve Mary and the ruthless Walker.

It could be, however, that Typhoid Mary is off to join the cast of Daredevil season three.

Iron Fist season 3 plot: what’s it about?

Obviously, it’s early days yet but the season two finale does suggest a number of ways the next one can go.

Fans were well pleased that the show avoided ‘white saviour complex’ in the finale and we’re lead to believe that Colleen Wing could become the new Iron Fist.

Other plot lines up for investigation include Davos, who has allied himself with Joy Meachum, and the aforementioned Typhoid Mary.

One character that was mentioned but not seen, was Orson Randall. In the comics, he was also born in K’un-Lun and he could have a number of answers to questions asked by Danny. In season two, Rand’s twin pistols actually belonged to Orson. Will we see him come out of the shadows in season three? Expect that to be the case and expect some fairly big name casting too.

And will Iron Fist (or any of the other Marvel TV shows for that matter) address the events of Avengers: Infinity War?

Probably not. But we’ll keep our eyes peeled.

Iron Fist seasons 1 and 2 are available on Netflix now.
