It’s no secret that Kate Middleton is a hands-on mom. Unlike many other royal women — including Queen Elizabeth II — the Duchess of Cambridge doesn’t rely fully on nannies to raise her children and makes a point to spend as much time as possible with her kids all while juggling her royal responsibilities. Like many of us, Princess Charlotte adores her mother. And, since her brother, Prince George is very close with Prince William, the young princess gets a lot more mommy and me time with the Duchess of Cambridge.
Kate Middleton takes Princess Charlotte to school
As often as they can, Prince William and Kate Middleton take their kids to school. And, soon they will be able to drop them off at the same school (Princess Charlotte is transferring to her brother’s school this fall). Until then, Kate Middleton takes her daughter, Princess Charlotte to school on the days Prince William brings Prince George to school.
Princess Charlotte follows Kate Middleton everywhere
Princess Charlotte looks up to her mom and it definitely shows in her actions. “Wherever Kate goes, so does Charlotte,” a source close to the family told Us Weekly. “Whenever the housekeeper or Kate are preparing food, Charlotte needs her own toy set by her side to imitate,” they added.
Princess Charlotte loves to help her mom entertain guests
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s daughter is already quite the hostess. According to Us Weekly, she always charms guests at her Kensington Palace apartment. “She’ll come up to guests and ask them if they want tea or coffee or offer them sweets,” an insider shared with Us Weekly.
They play in the garden together
Kate Middleton encourages her kids to get outside and get dirty. And, occasionally, she joins in on the fun. Apparently, the duchess helps her daughter and son hunt for spiders in the Kensington Palace garden.
Kate Middleton hasn’t told Charlotte she’s a princess yet
In her downtime, Princess Charlotte loves to play with her Disney Princesses. But, as it turns out, the young royal has no idea that she shares the same status as her dolls. Kate Middleton and Prince William have delayed telling their daughter of her royal status in hopes that she will continue to live a normal life.
Princess Charlotte’s nickname is so sweet
Kate Middleton has the sweetest nickname for her daughter. While shopping out shopping together, Princess Charlotte sat on the floor and Kate Middleton kindly turned to her and said: “get up, poppet.” In England, poppet is an affectionate name for a sweet or pretty young girl.
Kate Middleton thinks Princess Charlotte is bossy
It probably comes of no surprise that Princess Charlotte runs the show in the Cambridge family. With her bubbly personality, she prefers to be the leader and can be a bit bossy to her big brother, Prince George. While attending an event in March 2017, Kate Middleton chatted with mother, Samantha Burge about her daughter’s personality. “She said that Charlotte is growing up really fast. She is the one in charge,” Burge later revealed.
They shop together
Like many moms, Kate Middleton braves errands with her kids from time-to-time and has brought Princess Charlotte on a few shopping trips. More recently, Princess Charlotte joined her mom at a discount store in Sandringham to purchase books and other items to occupy the littles during the royal family’s Christmas celebration.

Kate Middleton is clearly a proud mama. While attending royal engagements at schools and children’s organizations, she often brings up her children and has even boasted about her only daughter, Princess Charlotte. The Duchess of Cambridge offers unique insight into Princess Charlotte’s hobbies and interests including dance and playing in the garden.
Princess Charlotte accompanies her parents on royal tours
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s daughter might only be three-years-old but she’s already a world traveler. The young princess has accompanied Kate and William on several royal tours and other engagements in her short life and will likely continue to do so as she gets older.
