Eight-part series Indian Matchmaking landed on Netflix recently and has had viewers gripped. The series follows on from other dating shows including Love Is Blind and Too Hot To Handle. But how do you watch the programme online for free.
Indian Matchmaking follows professional matchmaker Sima Taparia who has been enlisted to help singletons find a husband or wife.
Travelling between America and India, she will meet the families of single people from South Asian community hoping to get hitched.
The programme follows a group of single men and women who are hoping to meet the one.
While the show is more of Netflix’s standard reality dating fodder with heroes and villains and dramatic storylines, Indian Matchmaking had been shining a spotlight on the more unsavoury aspects of customs within this culture.

Indian Matchmaking on Netflix: Who is Sima Taparia?
Many detractors have hit out at Indian Matchmaking for perpetuating colourism, casteism and hierarchy.
The programme-makers behind Indian Matchmaking have leapt to the defence of the show.
Speaking to The Los Angeles Times, producer and Oscar-nominated director Smriti Mundhra, explained: “For me this show is an opportunity to show what it really is … the diversity in the diaspora.
“That we’re not a monolith. That we have all sorts of different backgrounds, different ideals and ideologies.
“But also, we don’t have to be defined by the stereotypes of our culture.”
She went on to say how she didn’t want to make Indian Matchmaking for a “Western gaze” and the show “is what it is”.
The executive also said the programme allowed the opportunity for people to “start conversations” and allow “reflection” about the things which are valued within this community.
How to watch Indian Matchmaking online for free
Indian Matchmaking is only available to watch on Netflix, which means you must be a subscriber to watch the show.
Sadly, there’s no longer a free trial for Netflix UK, so there’s no way to watch Indian Matchmaking for free.
However, there are several different subscriptions to suit all budgets starting with the Basic Package at £5.99 per month.
The Basic tier will give you access to all content on Netflix, but you can only watch on one device at a time.
Netflix confirmed in 2019 it was raising the cost of its subscriptions but the Basic one would remain unchanged.
The intermediate tier known as the Standard package went up from £7.99 per month to £8.99.
This level allows you to watch content on two devices simultaneously and HD where possible.

Coming in at the most costly is the Premium tariff at £11.99 per month but allows you to watch content on up to four devices at the same time.
Along with streaming content, Netflix has a download function which means you can watch episodes of Indian Matchmaking on the go.
Netflix can be watched on a variety of devices including laptops, tablets and mobile phones.
