I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is so close we can almost smell the kangaroo testicles being warmed up on the campfire.
Since the end of our other reality TV addiction, Love Island, there have been numerous rumours that some of the Islanders could make their way into I’m A Celeb’s jungle. But who could it be? LOYAL Georgia? Or perhaps snakey Adam?
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Joel Dommett, host of I’m A Celeb‘s spin-off show Extra Camp, said: “It would be great. As a massive Love Island fan, I would love to see that. I’m sure they’ll pick a good bunch of people.
“I would love to see Love Island contestants in it, because when Love Island finished you’re just like, ‘I just want to see more of the them’.
“It’s been really nice for two months to see them lying next to a pool getting a wonderful sun tan, but I’d also like to see them eating bugs and y’know, sitting next to a really cold waterfall.”
But who would Joel pick? Winners Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham have been tipped to be getting their very own TV show, while Eyal Booker has signed up for Celebs Go Dating and the rest of the gang have just appeared at ITV’s Love Island fan festival.
Joel continued: “I don’t really mind, I think they’re all pretty good, they’ve all got their own thing, Dani and Jack are brilliant, to see one of them or both of them go in would be absolutely incredible.
“Who knows what they’ve got involved, they literally don’t tell me anything in terms of who goes in until everyone else in the world finds out. I present my show with [Joe] Swash, so you can imagine the reasons why they don’t tell us any secrets.”
In other I’m A Celebrity news, it’s sadly been confirmed that Ant McPartlin won’t be returning to work with his best pal and co-host Declan Donnelly for the new series.
The Geordie presenter is continuing to focus on his recovery, which he says “is going very well”, and won’t be back for TV commitments until at least 2019. This also means their other show, Saturday Night Takeaway, won’t return next year.
Speaking about the absence of his friend, Dec said: “Whilst I am obviously sad at the thought of being without my best friend in Australia this year, I am proud of the work Ant has been doing privately and I am fully supportive of his decision. I’m looking forward to us both being reunited on screen in 2019.”
While the I’m A Celeb presenting line-up is resolved, Joel Dommett has plenty to keep him busy, as he’s set to take on a huge Gatecrasher challenge at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival in order to raise money and awareness for Stand Up To Cancer.
Speaking about the stunt, Joel said: “I’m basically trying to do a hundred gigs in a day, that’s by whatever means necessary really, just going from gig to gig and trying my best to say something different at a hundred gigs in a day.
“I’m going to start early and then go all the way until early in the four in the morning. Just be trying my best to do it.”
The challenge will see him try and perform 100 shows across 24 hours for the charity on the August 16. Stand Up To Cancer is a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4. For more information or to donate to Stand Up To Cancer head to standuptocancer.org.uk/gatecrasher.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is due to air later this year on ITV.
