Homes Under the Hammer star Martin Roberts has opened up about his fear that he could "drop dead" at any moment after suffering a serious health scare last year.
The 59-year old said he now suffers from an "irrational fear" due to a near-death experience which left him with just "hours to live" at the time, due to problems with his heart.
Channel 4 star Martin survived thanks to a life-saving operation to resolve a problem with his pericardium – the fluid-filled sack protecting the heart – however, the ordeal has left him mentally scarred.

The presenter revealed: "I have struggled quite badly since I nearly died last April."
"It was scary. I’m not young, but I’m not old, and to suddenly have your life come within a couple of minutes of ending, you do play the 'what ifs?'."
He continued: "The health recovery I think is probably a lot quicker than the mental recovery. The mental recovery is that fear that that happened, will it happen again? Suddenly, it’s a Monday morning, am I going to die?"
After being given his second chance at life, eager Martin signed up for new E4 show The Big Celebrity Detox, which first aired on May 15.

The programme sees Martin alongside Kerry Katona, kickboxer Michael "Venom" Page, and reality stars including Megan Barton Hanson and Toby Aromolaran put through a range of unusual activities, such as snail facials, snake massages and open grave therapy – led by spiritual guide Sah D'Simone.
The eight-episode series screens Monday to Thursday for two weeks.
Genna Gibson, Channel 4’s Commissioning Editor, said of the show: "E4 has never seen a show like this before and it will test our celebrities like they’ve never been tested before but also take them on a journey they’ll hopefully remember for the rest of their lives."
