Hollyoaks teases another death and 9 more big spoilers in new winter trailer

Nobody does a soap trailer quite like Hollyoaks and its winter teaser is jam-packed full of dramatic storylines which will keep fans gripped over the colder months.

With a new serial killer to worry about, a twisty-turny teen love triangle and a McQueen-centric Christmas special, we’re rounding up all of the biggest spoilers and reveals from the newly-released promo footage.

1. Does Breda kill again?

Can Hollyoaks’ newest killer Breda McQueen avoid detection in the run-up to Christmas? With the ever-incompetent Hollyoaks police force on the case, you betcha.

After Goldie is charged with murdering Russ, guilty Breda does consider coming clean by writing a letter saying: “I am the killer you’re looking for”. But that’s no fun, is it?

Sadly for the residents of Hollyoaks, it seems that Breda’s attack of conscience doesn’t last for long, as she’s later seen standing over a lifeless body and warning: “Sorry, bad dads don’t get second chances”.

Is it just us, or could that “bad dad” status apply to quite a few people in the village? Looks like Breda will be kept busy over the coming months if that’s her criteria for who lives and who dies…

2. Mercedes and Sylver grow closer

With Russ gone, the path is clear for Mercedes to explore her romantic connection with her second cousin Sylver.

The passionate pair are seen sharing a kiss – it was only ever a matter of time before they gave into temptation again, right?

3. A chaotic McQueen Christmas

Mercedes will also be taking charge of the McQueens’ Christmas celebrations this year, which predictably descends into chaos as she presents everyone with a burnt turkey and pours gravy over Goldie’s head.

Hollyoaks boss Bryan Kirkwood recently told Digital Spy: “We’re very excited about Christmas this year. It’s been many years since we had such a brilliant line-up of McQueen women in the show. For various off-screen reasons, we’ve rarely had Myra, Nana and Mercedes all together at the same time.

“Now with the brilliant additions of Cleo, Sally and Goldie to that line-up, this year is going to be a rocking big McQueen Christmas. It’ll focus on all factions of the family.”

4. Sinead vs Sienna

When Stephanie Davis returned to Hollyoaks last month, she teased a potential rivalry between Sinead and Sienna. Although it was all quite mysterious at the time, it now seems that newcomer Laurie will be at the centre of the tension.

With Sienna dreaming of becoming a teacher and Laurie hoping to land the deputy headteacher post at Hollyoaks High, it seems that these two could become workmates soon enough. Determined to mark her territory, Sinead warns Sienna away from her husband – but is she right to be suspicious, or is she worrying over nothing?

5. Sinead vs Donna-Marie

One enemy just isn’t enough for our Sinead, so she’ll also be clashing with Donna-Marie this Christmas.

When Sinead takes a starring role as the Virgin Mary in a Christmas nativity performance, Donna-Marie takes great pleasure in exposing her past as a prostitute in front of Laurie and the audience. Could this drive Sinead and Laurie apart already?

6. Luke returns

Gary Lucy is busy on tour with The Full Monty until next year, but as previously teased by the show, he’s found time to briefly film some extra scenes in between his theatre commitments.

As Mandy and Darren try to look forward to their first Christmas together and the arrival of their baby, it should be a happy time but there’s already trouble in paradise. When Mandy starts to fear that their latest crisis is all too much for Darren to handle, she heads to see Luke in prison. What will she tell him?

7. Ste finds a new ally in his war against the Maaliks

Ste won’t be dropping his vendetta against the Maalik family anytime soon as he continues to struggle after Tegan’s tragic death. When Misbah escapes any formal punishment for her role in Tegan’s sad demise, Ste vows to take matters into his own hands and vows that the Maaliks deserve everything they get.

When former X Factor runner-up Ray Quinn joins the cast, it’s good news for Ste as his mysterious character Jonny agrees to team up with him against the Maaliks. Will they prove to be a dangerous duo?

8. Romeo fights dirty in the battle for Lily

Prince fears for his health when he finds a lump on one of his testicles. Lily notices him behaving strangely, but it’s his best friend Romeo who he chooses to confide in.

Surprisingly, this still isn’t enough to deter Romeo from trying to win over Lily. Not only does he betray Prince by kissing Lily again, he also claims that Prince has started seeing someone else. What a rat!

9. Yasmine makes a desperate plea to Misbah

With Misbah still reluctant to address Imran’s abuse, Yasmine takes matters into her own hands by revealing that he’s been hurting her too. Misbah is horrified when she sees the bruises on her daughter’s stomach.

Misbah finally decides to go to the police station – has the time finally come to reveal the truth and get Imran some help?

10. Leela proposes to Louis

Poor Leela is still oblivious to the fact that Louis has got married to Martine and has been sleeping with Simone behind her back.

Convinced that Louis is perfect husband material, Leela proposes to a shocked Louis. Could he become a bigamist rather than revealing the truth?

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
