Hollyoaks actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer is clearly on a roll at the moment with his part as Prince McQueen on the Channel 4 soap.
However, it seems he is setting his sights high, especially in the wake of his on-screen brother Hunter’s (Theo Graham) departure, with hopes of heading across the pond.
“I’m already thinking about trying to get myself over to America,” Malique told the Oldham Evening Chronicle.
“I’ve been learning my American accent as well, too. Everything in my career is coming along nicely at the moment.”
If he does crack Hollywood, he wouldn’t be the first Hollyoaks alumnus to hit the big time – after all, former star Ricky Whittle is starring in US series American Gods, while Rachel Shenton recently won an Oscar. Not bad company to be in.
Meanwhile, earlier this month Theo Graham opened-up about his departure from the soap, telling Digital Spy: “I felt like I’ve had quite a busy two years. Hunter has had a lot going on.
“I had a really good storyline and also won the Soap Award for Best On-Screen Partnership with Malique Thompson-Dwyer, who plays Prince. So I just felt that if there’s any time to do it, it would be on a high.
“I’d found that high and it was the right time to do it. I followed my gut instinct and decided to venture on and see what else I can do.
“I want to take all the risks that I can while I’m young and I don’t have any adult commitments to a family. I’d rather do it all when I’m young.”
