Hollyoaks star Ellis Hollins has apologised after a photoshoot of his received backlash.
The actor — who portrays Tom Cunningham in the Channel 4 soap — shared on his social media account a professional picture from a photoshoot which was taken on a train track.
The pic subsequently received criticism, with some social media users commenting that it could influence younger followers.
He said: ‘I apologise for my recent post, it was irresponsible and I was careless to take part in such a dangerous situation, I do not condone in recreational acts in any way on train lines.
‘As for clarification on why we shot there, my excuse at the time was me and the photographer had taken into consideration when trains were due to pass, and we had literally miles of visible track either side of us.
‘Just to further add to this, there is no excuse for the location of the photo, I shouldn’t have been there, I am simply stating that at the time, that was the excuse I had, despite it being poor.’
Ellis has portrayed Tom in Hollyoaks since he was three —making his first appearance in 2003.

He’s been a part of huge storylines over the years — and viewers recently saw several of his earlier appearances again, with select episodes from iconic narratives — such as Clare Devine’s reign of terror and Max’s death — being re-aired as part of Hollyoaks Favourites.
Meanwhile, the soap’s newer episodes have seen the character embark on a relationship with Yazz Maalik (Haeisha Mistry).
