Hollyoaks star Bob Cryer reveals how Glenn Donovan will get his comeuppance

Every soap villain gets what’s coming to them eventually, and it’s almost time for Hollyoaks‘ resident wrong’un Glenn Donovan to receive some karmic retribution.

He’s killed his own son, shot Kim Butterfield and did horrible things to Maxine Minniver and Grace Black, and actor Bob Cryer has told The Sun that it is the latter who will be responsible for his downfall.

“It will always come back to the love story between Glenn and Grace so she will always be central to his fate,” said Cryer.

“He will always want her close and the weakness for him is that he genuinely loves her. Everyone’s definition of love is different and in this case it was a meeting of equals but in the laws of the jungle there can only be one king.”

“He realises that reducing Grace to nothing is almost more dangerous than having her hovering just above the weak state we found her in after throwing the ashes on her,” Cryer added.

“He knows what she’s capable of in the future so if she’s allowed to rise up, as she always will because that is Grace Black and that will always come to the fore.

“She’s most dangerous when she’s rock bottom and that’s what he realises so he can only let her rise, at this moment, to a point where she’s looking after herself but not then seeking revenge.”

He did add that he thinks Glenn can be redeemed, with his other son Jesse being the key.

Of course, before any of this happens, Simone Loveday and Glenn are going to get quite close indeed…

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
