SINEAD O'Connor is going to be raped by her husband Laurie in Hollyoaks.
The nurse – who is played by actress Stephanie Davis in the Channel 4 soap – will suffer the horrifying experience at the hands of her abusive gas-lighter deputy headteacher husband Laurie next week.
Hollyoaks High deputy head Laurie has left viewers feeling unsettled over recent months with his behaviour towards his wife and other women in the village.
He has already physically abused her after he was confronted over his inappropriate behaviour with Sienna.
Laurie pretended to have no idea he had hurt Sinead enough for her to require painkillers the next day as the bruises emerged.
But next week his behaviour will take a new disturbing twist when he discovers Sinead has suspicions about his behaviour again, according to Digital Spy.
She will seek comfort in Sami Maalik when Laurie goes abroad with Sienna on a school camping trip.
He ignores his wife's attempts to contact him when he's abroad and broken hearted she kisses Sami.
However, when Laurie discovers the kiss, he takes disgusting action and rapes his wife in retaliation.
He will then embark on a campaign of gaslighting and continue abusing Sinead to manipulate her into believing he didn't rape her in the harrowing event.
The soap has worked with RASA Merseyside, a local charity that supports sexual abuse survivors, on the storyline to ensure it is accurate.
It is the latest in a long line of tough subjects the soap has tackled, most recently being awarded the Best Soap Award at the Royal Television Society Awards for its football abuse storyline.
