Holly Willoughby and TV chef Phil Vickery were reduced to tears as they paid tribute to Denise Robertson and her charity work.
A segment showing Denise’s charity work in Uganda sparked emotion as she was seen speaking to a young boy, who she wanted to see "smile again" after his family died, except for his little brother.
She started to sponsor him and set up a charity to help children where he lived, so Phil went over to Uganda to meet him as he is now, as he continues the work she started.
Back in the studio, after watching the film of Phil’s trip, Holly and he were in floods of tears as they tried to keep it together and talk about her.
Holly, overcome with emotion, could only say: "We miss her very much."
The tribute saw Denise on her trip to Uganda in 2004, where she met Fred and his younger brother Emmanuel.
She was heartbroken by their situation and was desperate to see change, after already supporting one girl from a nearby village.
When Phil went to visit Fred, he saw how much Denise’s legacy lived on, as Fred had worked with Denise’s foundation to get fresh water in the village with a well, and were helping to provide a meal at school and health care.
But it was not only the two TV presences who were in tears, but it was also fans who were struggling to hold back their tears.
One said: "@thismorning I’ve just turned on and within seconds of watching the Denise foundation has got me in tears. What a wonderful woman she was and she is still helping others. We could all take a leaf out of her book. Happy birthday #thismorning"
