The hit US science fiction thriller Counterpart is finally making its way onto UK screens… and you won’t have to travel to any parallel dimensions to watch it!
Amazon Prime Video has announced that it will be premiering the first season of Academy Award winner J. K. Simmons’s show exclusively on its StarzPlay video channel on September 28.
Counterpart, which premiered in the US last year, casts Simmons as a lowly United Nations employee named Howard Silk, who discovers that his Berlin branch has been secretly hiding a bridge to a parallel earth.
Howard’s findings lead him into a dangerous world of threats and double-dealing, where the only person he can truly trust is his own counterpart from the other side. Or can he?
Counterpart boasts a hugely impressive cast, including The Halcyon‘s Olivia Williams, former Game of Thrones baddie Harry Lloyd and Homeland veteran Nazanin Boniadi.
The series was created by Disney’s Jungle Book remake writer Justin Marks and boasts a pilot episode directed by Morten Tyldum, who knows a thing or two about intrigue from making World War II thriller The Imitation Game.
Fans should catch up on Counterpart ASAP because it was recently announced that production had begun on a second season.
Amazon Prime Video launched its StarzPlay video channel earlier this year as a way for fans in the UK to get caught up on US hits Vida and Sweetbitter as well as a library of movies that includes The Hunger Games, Gone Girl and Birdman.
