Former One Direction star Harry, who is estimated to be worth £40 MILLION, was said to have spent 18 months camped out in Ben's loft after deciding he preferred a 'boring' family environment.
Despite being adored the world over, Harry managed to go unnoticed by neighbours in the quiet area of north London for more than a year.
And as a result, Harry's presence inspired Ben to create the forthcoming TV sitcom Happy Together – of which he made Harry a co-producer.
Danielle Turchiano, from America's Variety magazine, confirmed the revelation, tweeting: "Harry Styles lived in Ben Winston's attic for 18 months, suburban neighbourhood, no one knew he was there.
"He said living in a quiet 'boring' family environment while undergoing a crazy time in his life helped him and inspired Winston to develop #HappyTogether."
She added: "Winston says Styles wanted to stay in his house for so long because he preferred living in a family unit instead of alone in a mansion."
Ben, meanwhile, has since taken to Twitter and explained that Harry moved into his home after living with his One Direction bandmates.
But he was quick to stress that Happy Together is only "loosely" based on their time as housemates.
Ben said: "Harry moved in to ours after he lived with the boys.
"But – let me say again although Harry and I are producing this show together, it is simply loosely inspired by our living situation.
"NO character and NO stories are based on anything real!"
Happy Together follows the lives of Jake and Claire, who are in their 30s and bored of mundane life.
But after an emerging pop star moves in with them, the pair begin to reconnect with their younger cooler selves.
The American sitcom is set to launch in the US in October, however it is not yet known if it will air in the UK.
