Grey’s Anatomy bringing back major character from Meredith’s past

Grey’s Anatomy is due to return for its 15th season, and it will be bringing back a character who hasn’t been seen since season seven!

Entertainment Weekly reports that Jeff Perry will be returning as Thatcher Grey, Meredith’s dad, for the first time in years.

Thatcher was not there for much of Meredith’s childhood, and went on to marry another woman and have two more daughters.

Actress Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith, has said that the upcoming season will focus on her character’s love life. Does that mean her Dad will return to give his blessing about a new partner?

Showrunner Krista Vernoff recently talked about the ‘Season of Love’ stating: “Yes, [Meredith]’s a single mom, and that complicates a dating life. And yes, she’s a surgical marvel with new, game-changing medical ideas she’ll be pursuing.

“But she also hasn’t dated at all since Nathan Riggs left. And the one-two punch of meeting Nick Marsh awoke a desire in her that she can’t put back to sleep.

“The question this season is not, ‘Will Meredith Grey find love again?’ but ‘With whom will she find love?'”

Season 15 of Grey’s will also feature a Nashville star in Chris Carmack. He will play an orthopaedic surgeon so skilled that he’s been called an “ortho god” by his colleagues.

Grey’s Anatomy returns on ABC in the US on Thursday, September 27 at 8pm ET and airs on Sky Living in the UK.
