Greenleaf season 3: Release date, trailer, cast and everything you need to know

Religious drama Greenleaf was renewed for a third season back in August 2017 by the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).

The show is executive produced by Oprah – who also stars in it as Mavis McCready – and is part of her broadcaster’s move into prestige drama, alongside Ava DuVernay’s Queen Sugar, The Haves and the Have Nots and If Loving You Is Wrong.

“We can’t wait to see what another season of Greenleaf will bring,” enthused OWN president Erik Logan. “This series was instrumental in evolving OWN’s scripted programming and it continues to pull in viewers each week with its unique storytelling and characters.”

But what will it bring? Here’s everything we know so far.

Greenleaf season 3 release date: When it’s on?

The new season will launch with a special two-night premiere on Tuesday, August 28 and Wednesday, August 29 on OWN in the US.

In the UK, the show airs on Netflix, but unlike most of its US shows it picks up, it hasn’t been airing particularly soon after. Season one arrived on our shores in March 2017 with season two following in November 2017, having started in the US in June 2016 and March 2017 respectively.

UK fans: prepare yourselves to wait until season three ends in the US to see it.

Elsewhere, the Bishop and Mae’s teenage daughter Sophia (Desiree Ross) is surprised by an unforeseen medial issue and her sister Charity (Deborah Joy Winans) is trying to make peace with her ex-husband Kevin (Tye White).

Greenleaf airs on OWN in the US and Netflix in the UK.
