During last night’s explosive episode there were numerous twists and turns in the blockbuster drame, including the return of Chanel Dyson – Julia Montague’s former PR assistant who was sacked in the first episode.
David (Richard Madden) "coincidentally" bumped into Chanel in a coffee shop and the pair ended up exchanging numbers.
On today’s GMB, Richard Arnold couldn’t resist giving it a call, despite him being a fictional character as they desperately tried to work out who set off the bomb that killed Julia Montague.
He told Susanna Reid, Piers Morgan and Charlotte Hawkins: “David Budd was seen giving out his phone number to Chanel Dyson. She’s a piece of work. She was Julia Montague’s former PR assistant from episode one.
“So we thought we would dial that number now to see if we can chat to the Bodyguard himself.”
Richard was then seen making the call – but it went to a voicemail which said: “Hi, thanks for calling the Piers Morgan fan club, sorry there’s no one here to take your call. Please leave a message and if you are lucky Piers might call you back.”
Piers didn’t find the joke funny at all and instead starting talking about his theory that Julia isn’t dead at all.
Discussing writer Jed Mercurio’s style, Piers said: “He has a track record for not killing people off. What better way to shock people than the guy who kills people to bring them back?
“He is a man who likes to surprise.”
Meanwhile Richard Arnold wasn’t the only person to try and call Budd’s number.
After the scene aired fans took to Twitter to discuss it, with one person writing: “How many people are rewinding to get his number #Bodyguard.”
Another added: “Did anyone else write down David Budd’s number when he gave it to that Sam bird #Bodyguard.”
While someone else wrote: “07700900431 Just incase any of you ladies OR gents forgot or missed taking David's number entered into your phone's #Bodyguard.”
