Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) stopped by the hospital to terrorise Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) in Coronation Street tonight (December 2) in an effort to stop her from testifying in court.
The highly-anticipated trial kicked off in tonight’s double-bill, and Geoff wasted little time in painting Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) as a violent alcoholic.
The abuser thought he’d succeeded in getting the upper hand — that is, until Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) started cross-examining him.
The solicitor was nothing short of incredible, as he exposed the inconsistencies in the web of lies that Geoff had spun relating to Elaine’s disappearance, in an effort to belittle the bully’s claim that he was a good husband.
As the first day of proceedings came to an end, Imran had ensured that Geoff wasn’t the poor, abused husband that he made himself out to be, and — fearing the worst — he took action.
Yes, with Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) having confirmed that Elaine had been found, Geoff located her in the hospital, and proceeded to intimidate her.
Elaine had agreed to give evidence at the trial when she spoke to Tim previously, but Geoff berated her, and claimed that nobody would take her seriously.
Elaine broke down in tears and hid behind her chair — terrified of Geoff — and ultimately called Tim to reveal that she could no longer appear in court.
Has Geoff just secured his victory?
Is Yasmeen’s fate sealed?
Coronation Street continues Friday at 7:30pm on ITV.
