Friends fans go wild over star’s ‘iconic’ response to Chandler’s 2020 joke

Friends has been on television for 25 years, but it's still proving one of the most popular shows around.

As such, fans couldn't just let the New Year go by without quoting one of the most memorable lines from the sitcom.

Those who've watched every episode numerous times, might recall that in The One with the Cake, the friends gather to celebrate baby Emma's first birthday.

Ross and Rachel throw their daughter a party, but the little one ends up napping through most of it, much to the annoyance of the guests.

Chandler and Monica then proceed to air their frustration over the whole thing while recording a 18th birthday message for Emma.

Chandler jokes: "Hi Emma, it's the year 2020. Are you still enjoying your nap?"

To which Monica adds: "We're Aunt Monica and Uncle Chandler by the way – you might not recognise us because we haven't spoken to your parents in 17 years."

"We used to be married," continued Chander. "But then we missed a weekend away together and things kind of unravelled… Because of you!"

Well, as it's now 2020 and young Emma would officially be all grown up, the actress who portrayed her on screen has decided to respond to the joke.

  • Friends has been on TV for 25 years, but we've never needed the show more

Noelle Sheldon played Emma from 2003 to 2004 along with her twin sister Cali.

The star took to Instagram on New Year's Day to poke fun at Chandler's words in what people are calling an "iconic" post.

Noelle uploaded a photo of herself, holding a coffee mug, edited onto an image of the Central Perk set.

Alongside this, she wrote: "Just woke up from the best nap of all time, happy 2020!!

"Hope everyone has an excellent year full of family, friends and laughter!!"

The photo has gone viral, with many praising her effort.

"Hahahaha! This post is EVERYTHING," proclaimed one person.

Another said: "Glad you finally woke up, it's been long enough."

"This is iconic," wrote a different user.

Someone else replied: "LMAO, the best post ever."
