Five Emmerdale theories: heartbreaking split, new romance and family reunion | The Sun

VIEWERS are keen to find out what's next in the Dales as Super Soap Week is fast approaching.

Emmerdale viewers have recently taken to social media to share their craziest theories for this week's events. Here's our roundup.

1. New couple twist

Lydia Dingle (portrayed by Karen Blick) was recently raped by her childhood sweetheart Craig Reed (Ben Addis) in disturbing scenes.

Since then, the CEO has been gaslighting the fan favourite, making her believe the attack was nothing but a consensual tryst.

Craig has stooped to a new low in recent scenes of the ITV soap by using an awestruck Samson Dingle to get to Lydia.

However, one viewer took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to speculate that Craig could take things to another level by bonding with another villager closer to Lydia.

"So, I’m pretty sure that Craig is going to end up going out with Chas and likely sleeping with her", the soap fan theorised online.

"Then he’ll tear up as he tells the story of learning about his dead child…and the fact that he and Lydia took comfort together but he thinks she now feels guilty."

Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) has remained single since her split from Paddy Kirk, which was triggered by her affair with the late Al Chapman.

Could Craig use her to get to Lydia and cause trouble for her in an attempt to discredit her?

2. Devastating split

While Craig's next move is yet to be seen, many fans of the Yorkshire-based drama are waiting for Lydia's marriage to break down as she struggles to cope with her trauma.

The cleaner shut down after her attack and things were only made worse when her husband Sam Dingle (James Hooton) made it clear he was growing fond of Craig, despite his initial insecurity around him.

And with Samson (Sam Hall) growing more keen to work with Craig in the hopes of becoming a tech entrepreneur, it would be no surprise if Lydia was to spiral out of control and call time on her marriage as she crumbles under the pressure of staying quiet.

Moreover, Craig could also make Lydia look guilty by insisting they both engaged in consensual intercourse and maintaining her emotions are simply caused by guilt and regret over her infidelity.

But who will see right through him?

Lydia recently tried to report her attack to the police but quickly left the station when she was unable to share her story.

Will she ever get the help she deserves?

Will her marriage survive?

3. Mental health relapse

Elsewhere in the Dales, Thomas King (James Chase) realises he and his partner Belle Dingle aren't on the same page as she makes a brutal confession.

Tom rocked up the eponymous village earlier this year after a decade in Saudi Arabia with his mother and sister.

Upon his return, he immediately reconnected with his former girlfriend Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and things between the pair have since been moving fast.

Ready to prove his commitment to her, Tom suggested they move in together.

However, in scenes airing next week, his excitement is dashed in one comment when Belle tells him she can't move in with him just yet.

Off-screen, soap fans are expecting Tom to show off a dark side of his personality, similarly to his father Carl, as they suspect he could be keeping a sinister secret.

But while some are theorising he could become violent towards Belle, another handful of viewers are speculating his behaviour may be the cause of another relapse for her.

"I wonder if Belle will start to hear voices again following Tom's outbursts?", one fan commented on social media.

Belle was diagnosed with schizophrenia and while her symptoms have been under control for three years, living in soap land could mean she's not exempted from a harrowing relapse.

Could Tom be the cause of it?

4. Secret relatives

Gail Loman (Rachael Gill-Davis) rocked up Emmerdale earlier this year after four years of absence and immediately rekindled her relationship with Ryan Stocks.

But much like Thomas King, viewers are expecting her to be too good to be true and when spoilers confirmed she'd be receiving the visit of a mystery woman as she holds on to a shocking secret, they were eager to know what was going on with the eccentric newcomer.

In recent scenes, Gail was seen meeting up with a brand new character called Sophie played by former EastEnders star Martha Cope in the local allotment.

It was later revealed that Gail had a secret son named Oscar… and Ryan is the father.

The 13-year-old boy was diagnosed with a rare type of aplastic anaemia and his adoptive mother Sophie told Gail he needed a bone marrow transplant.

Coming up, Gail and Ryan have a hard encounter as they try to work out how they can move forward with the weight of her secret.

Off-screen, one soap fan speculated she may be hiding another secret – an unexpected connection to a village legend.

"The Express said in a article Gail is Zoe Tate's daughter true or bs you decide", they penned on X.

Zoe Tate was the only daughter of Frank and Jean Tate and the mother of Jean Tate Jr.

She moved away to New Zealand in 2005, following the death of her brother Chris, never to be seen again although she remains present for her nephew Noah Dingle.

While it's unlikely Zoe will be making a comeback due to actress Leah Bracknell's death in September, 2019, could Gail be bringing bad news about the character before revealing she is her daughter?

What are Gail's true motives?

Another viewer went a completely different route and expects Gail to rip a page out of Nicky Milligan's book.

"I may be projecting but Gail in Emmerdale is gay right?…… RIGHT?", they wrote.

5. Explosive return

Recent scenes have shown Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) leave the village to go on a road trip.

However, both brothers have kept their reasons a secret, despite Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) trying to find out what they've been up to.

Many fans have taken to social media and speculated they may be bringing back another iconic character to Emmerdale.

According to this theory, they may be surprising Moira with the return of her son, Adam played by Adam Thomas.

The hunk fled the Dales in 2018 with Cain's help after he decided to take the fall for Emma Barton's death in an attempt to save Moira.

"I wonder if he's gone to pick up Adam, just a thought, it would be nice to have Adam back with Robert & Aaron too", one viewer theorised.

Another jumped in: "Wonder if Adam Barton will come back."

"I was thinking maybe Adam is in trouble and they are gone to help him. They don't want Moira to worry, and Victoria has a date, be awkward if Adam came back now. Just a thought", a third soap fan commented.

"Maybe Moira’s son is needing some help and that’s why they can’t tell her", one final viewer added.

But some viewers still disagree, despite the many hints dropped about Adam's potential return to the Dales over the months.

Adam Thomas has had a busy schedule in recent months as he returned to Waterloo Road and is currently filming for Strictly Come Dancing.
