First Look at Suranne Jones in new BBC thriller Vigil tracking deadly war between police and military

SURANNE Jones is set to star in a new BBC thriller Vigil, tracking a deadly war between the police and military.

A brand new image shows Jones in her role as DCI Amy Silver, taking control of an investigation, alongside with Chief Petty Officer Elliot Glover (Shaun Evans).

The ex Doctor Foster star also features alongside Line of Duty's Martin Compston and they have now resumed production on the three-part series, which is based in Scotland.

Suranne, 41, has joined an exciting cast that already includes one of her former Doctor Foster co-stars Adam James and The Bodyguard's Anjli Mohindra.

The Game of Thrones trio of Rose Leslie, Stephen Dillane and Daniel Portman will also be part of the show.

The new crime drama was written by BAFTA-nominated Tom Edge, who also worked on The Crown.

Former Corrie star Jones praised Tom for his newest creation, which she says is set in a 'world she knew nothing about'.

The former Gentleman Jack actress explained: "Tom Edge has created a thrill of a story, set in a world I knew nothing about. The cast and crew World Productions have put together to tell this story is so exciting.

"Amy Silva is a brilliantly complex character, thrown into a highly charged situation where her authority is weakened."

"She added: "We watch as she navigates her own personal trauma and loss, all at a time when she's questioning her relationships and life choices. It feels fresh and relevant and I can't wait to start filming."

Fans will get a double dose of Suranne in the coming months as she has been cast to play in the gritty Channel 4 series I am, which has been commissioned for another three episodes.

Jones will star alongside Top Boy's Ashley Walters in an episode called I Am Victoria.

Suranne said of her new role: "I'm delighted to be involved in the next series of I Am.

"Dominic always tells important stories with great sensitivity and the process so far has been wonderfully collaborative and open which is something I thrive on.

"I can't wait to make what will be a very personal and thought-provoking piece and I'm thrilled to be telling this story with Ashley.
