Fern Britton thanks fans for ‘overwhelming kindess’ after revealing Phil Vickery divorce – The Sun

FERN Britton has taken to social media to thank her fans for the support she has received since announcing her separation from husband Phil Vickery.

The former presenter tweeted: "Hello. Thank you so much for all your kind messages. They are so appreciated. More than you know. The kindness of strangers is overwhelming."

Fern, 62, and chef Phil Vickery 58, shocked fans last week after revealing they had called it quits after 20 years of marriage.

The author broke the news to her 66,500 Twitter followers on 29th January: "After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways. We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children.

"We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time. Thankyou for your continued kindness and support."

Phil then posted the same tweet on his account.

Fern's fans who did not hesitate to show her kindness and she could not believe the outpouring of love she had received.


One fan tweeted: "Oh Fern that's so sad! Sending you lots of love and happiness to you and the family."

Another said: "That’s a shame, all the best to you both for the future."

A third added: "I'm so sorry to hear this Fern. My thoughts are with you, Phil and your family at this very difficult and sensitive time."

The Mirror reported that the news will not come as a surprise to those close to them, after a source told the publication they were not even speaking to each other.

The revelation comes just after their daughter Winnie’s 18th birthday and one month after Fern’s father Tony passed away.

Fern married the celebrity chef in 2000 following her split from TV executive Clive Jones in the same year.

Winnie is the only child they have together.

Fern also has twins Harry and Jack, and daughter Grace, with her first husband Clive.
