Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) was recently given a stack of letters from Roy Cropper (David Neilson) ahead of his operation in Coronation Street.
Roy has written these in case he doesn’t survive the stent being put into his heart, which is happening after he was diagnosed with angina.
It’s been a tricky journey for Roy following his trip to the doctors.
This week, after experiencing further problems with his breathing, Evelyn tried to tell him that he needed to chase up the hospital to try and get his operation date sooner.
After Roy shared concern about Freddie the dog, who was at the vets to be neutered, Evelyn cleverly used that as a way for Roy to realise he should contact the hospital.
However, afterwards, Roy was taken aback and told Evelyn that his surgery would be sooner than expected after a cancellation.
With the letters in hand, Evelyn was at the hospital and watched Roy as he was wheeled away.
Back at home, she was very busy indeed. Evelyn had noticed a letter addressed to her and was incredibly intrigued to know the contents inside.
She stood over kettle, holding the letter above the steam, slowly working to open it without Roy knowing.
When Tyrone (Alan Halsall) returned, he realised Evelyn had been successful.
She flicked the envelope open with a knife, preparing to find out what Roy wants to say to her.
We’re on the edges of our seats, what does Roy really think of Evelyn?
