Emmerdale‘s Charity Dingle is left devastated tonight (September 24) as she hears Cain harshly badmouthing her.
Charity has gone off the rails in the fallout from DI Bails’s trial, which saw him found guilty of sexually abusing her when she was a teenager.
Monday’s episode sees Charity’s family start to lose patience with her, as she still shows no signs of getting her life back on track anytime soon.
Still in self-destruct mode, Charity is angry that her family did nothing when her dad Obadiah kicked her out as a teenager, which left her alone and vulnerable ahead of her ordeal with Bails.
While heading off for even more vodka to drown her sorrows, Charity is upset to hear Cain (Jeff Hordley) making a jibe about how she’s never going to change.
Fearing Cain is right, Charity lifts Zak’s van keys and heads out, but makes another big mistake when she drunkenly runs over Monty the dog’s paw with the vehicle. Will this be the final straw for the Dingles?
Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, revealed: “Charity is currently a loose cannon and everyone can see that. They’re getting quite concerned. But the outcome of the trial has given her no security and no concrete answers. She doesn’t know how she feels now that Bails has gone to jail.
“Charity doesn’t feel any happier and she doesn’t feel relieved. She just feels numb and angry that the pain hasn’t gone away. Charity is drinking and being a bit crazy – she’s going back to the old Charity.
“Charity is insensitive to others and full of self-pity, which is what she does best. She also overhears Cain saying to everyone that she’s a loser and always will be. He says that she’s never going to put herself right and she’s damaged goods.”
Emmerdale airs tonight at 7pm on ITV.
