Emmerdale stars call for Aaron Dingle to be more involved in Chas's baby storyline

Emmerdale stars Lucy Pargeter and Dominic Brunt have revealed that they want Aaron Dingle to be more involved in their emotional baby storyline.

The pair’s characters Chas Dingle and Paddy Kirk are currently preparing to welcome a daughter together, but their child tragically has no chance of long-term survival after being diagnosed with a rare condition.

Since learning that their baby girl has bilateral renal agenesis, Chas and Paddy have decided to take the pregnancy to full-term – determined to make the most of every last moment with her, however short.

More recently, we’ve seen the couple confide in their loved ones about what’s going on – but Lucy and Dominic now want Aaron (Danny Miller) to have more scenes showing his support.

Asked who’ll be supporting their characters, Dominic replied: “I’m hoping Aaron will come into it at some point because he’s been left out of it so far.”

Lucy added: “Yeah, he hasn’t had an awful lot to do with them and the pregnancy, so I hope we have Aaron on board.”

Emmerdale fans can expect more tear-jerking scenes in the storyline next week, as Paddy and Chas meet up with a woman called Joanne, who had a similar pregnancy to theirs.

As Joanne reveals her experience, Paddy and Chas are both determined to stay strong as they face up to the reality of what’s ahead for both of them.

Lucy explained: “It’s the hospice that recommend they meet with someone. Joanne’s baby had a different problem, but her baby died and she comes to tell them that they can ask her any questions, like, ‘How was the birth? Do you ever regret it?’ She’s there as a sounding board.”

Dominic added: “Even talking about a hospice makes them realise it’s not as far away as they first imagined. They keep thinking it’s well in the future. It’s creeping up on them and they suggest that they should speak to someone to get ready.

“So they meet with this lady, who plays it brilliantly. She says, ‘Well this happens, then this happens’, and then she stops and remembers what happens as if it’s real and it’s a person. What’s interesting is that each person has come at it from a different viewpoint. That’s been fascinating.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
