Fans of the ITV soap know that Sarah, played by Katie Hill, is currently in hospital waiting for a new heart after being told she was suffering from heart failure.
Mum Debbie, Charley Webb, was told it was a rare side effect of the chemotherapy Sarah had undergone for cancer in her early childhood.
Debbie is left seething when she discovers that Sarah has overhead her great-aunt Faith Dingle saying her operation would be a waste of time as she would die anyway.
A furious Debbie orders Faith to stay away from the hospital and her daughter but Faith, played by Sally Dexter, is riddled with guilt and determined to come up with a way to make Sarah change her mind.
She comes up with a plan and – dressed in disguise – wheels Sarah down the corridor. Will she be able to get the stubborn schoolgirl to rethink her decision?
This week fans will see Debbie struggle with her fears for her daughter when she’s told a heart donor has been found.
Sarah’s friend Dom will be seen collapsing on the ward, leaving Debbie horrified.
The young mum is even more shocked when Sarah lashes out at her, clearly feeling stunned by what happened to Dom herself.
Sarah initially thought her childhood cancer had returned when she started to feel unwell, but was given the devastating diagnosis by doctors that she is suffering from heart failure – a rare side effect of her chemotherapy treatment.
Then, following this devastating diagnosis she contracted a virus and was told that would need to clear up before she could have a heart transplant.
While Sarah looks set to go under the knife, Debbie and Emmerdale fans will be praying the op is a success.
