Emmerdale viewers saw Vanessa Woodfield (played by Michelle Hardwick) go through a horrific ordeal after her, and young son Jonny, were held hostage by her enemy Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrather). She managed to escape and yesterday celebrated her birthday as fans were convinced her fiancé Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) swore when her partner seemed disappointed by the present she had given her.
Charity and Vanessa have had a turbulent few months in the Dales after the pair were set to wed but the latter was left jilted at the altar.
It came around the time of Graham Foster’s (Andrew Scarborough) murder, where Charity and her son Ryan (James Moore)) looked to be in the frame.
She had become angered by the way in which Graham had treated her son as she went to confront him with some believing they were the culprits.
However, it soon emerged that it was in fact Pierce who had killed the ill-fated businessman as he sought his revenge to get to those closest to his ex-wife Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry).
