Emmerdale actor Matthew Wolfenden teases dramatic end to Maya and Jacob plot

Emmerdale’s David Metcalfe actor Matthew Wolfenden has teased a dramatic end to Maya and Jacob’s grooming storyline, while hinting the plot was far from over.

Maya Stepney was recently exposed, after grooming teenage stepson Jacob, the son of her boyfriend David, for months.

She manipulated Jacob into believing they were in love and both are currently on the run, with David vowing to find them and get justice.

Next week, David manages to track the predator down and has her arrested, bringing Jacob back home but their ordeal is far from over.

Speaking about the start of the end to the controversial storyline, actor Matthew explained how things reach a dramatic conclusion.

He said: “David absolutely believes he has done the right thing. Now that he knows the truth, he absolutely despises Maya.

“There’s no emotion over losing his girlfriend. That completely goes out of the window and it’s now pure, unadulterated hate.”

Matthew added: “David wants Maya to go away to prison and for the key to be thrown away.”

The actor, married to co-star Charley Webb in real life, went on to reveal why things don’t exactly calm down after Maya’s arrest.

He said: “Jacob actually witnesses Maya being handcuffed and put into the police car. He’s obviously devastated and thinks that David has completely ruined his life.

“He still wants to be with Maya and thinks they’re in love.”

The scenes will lead to Jacob turning on his dad for losing Maya, but will the pair ever be able to get back on track?

Recent scenes have seen Jacob unsure whether to run away with Maya and leave his family behind, and now it’s been revealed that Maya will finally get her comeuppance.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
